"Nothing is Impossible with God"

Alina Galea and street kids

Dear friends and partners,

It's very hard to describe in a few words what God's done over the last few weeks. We've never experienced the kind of miracles I'm about to share with you!!!

My wife and I and four of our group went to Tārgoviste for two weeks to help with the plant of a new church. Along with an American team and the local team and most of all with God's grace, we believed that "impossible" is not a word in God's vocabulary. Everybody's been saying how difficult it is to evangelize in the southern part of Romania, how people are not responding to anything and how it's impossible to get them to receive God.

Well once again God proved all men to be liars by showing us all that anything is possible with Him.

Altar Call at Street Rally
Tārgoviste, Romania

We took our sound system with us because we were supposed to have about three street rallies every afternoon advertising the "Big Event" on Sat the 21st. Well the mayor and the officials were not in that much of a hurry so we didn't have the permits to do anything in the street for almost a week. When I said "anything", I meant anything that uses PA system with loud speakers. So we prayed and thought what to do. We decided we'd just go across the street from the hotel in the beautiful park where hundreds of young people hang out. So we took a few guitars and all of us went to the park sat down and started singing song in both English and Romanian. In just a few minutes we had a lot of young people all around us. So we started talking with them and invited them to sing with us. This went on for four days and by the end of the four days we had about 75 people attending our park meetings.

After six days we finally got permission to perform with loud speakers. We told all our new friends to bring their friends for the Tues night street event. Even though it was raining about 150 came to see us perform. At the end was the best part, when after I gave an alter call about 50 prayed with me, and then we spent another hour talking with them. While talking to them God would show us who to spend more time with and show more love towards. This one guy called Catalin around 19 years old was very captivated by the love he saw. His father left their family and he didn't really know what real love is until that night. He was absorbing every word from us and all of them didn't want to go home even though it was getting dark by now.

Catalin, "the muscle guy", joining in the drama

Next day at 2pm we invited all those interested in music, drama, mime, puppets to come to the resource center where we had four different rooms for the different activities. At 9am we'd usually have devotions with the teams, so Catalin, Victor and Ionut got invited to our devotional. As we started worshiping God, Catalin the "muscle guy" we'd call him, started crying and sobbing and couldn't stop. He felt so overwhelmed by God's presence that he could not hold hid tears. I told him that it was OK to cry or laugh or jump up and down in God's presence. Then Victor and Ionut felt like they should give their lives to the Lord, so right there and then they received Jesus in their lives. The atmosphere was so incredible, joy, tears, more joy and some more joy on top of that. At the end I said if anyone has any questions. Catalin's only question was, "When the Americans leave can I still come here?" We rejoiced over the fact that he and the other wanted to be a part of what we were doing. So at two a clock we had about 35-40 young people come to the Ministry Resource Center to be with us. Five of them brought their guitars, so Phil and I took all the musicians to a room where we had a drum kit and guitar amp to rehearse some songs for the night's event which was to be held in the hotel's conference hall. I must remind you that these are nonbelievers that came to practice with us. We also decided we'd let some of them perform in the different dramas so they'd feel a part of what was going on. Everybody had so much fun, and they were very happy and didn't know why. God was working on their hearts, getting them ready to receive Him.

Tārgoviste Conference Hall

When evening came we all went in the conference hall. Well the newcomers told all their friends to come and see them as they were performing. We had over 100 in that room. After they performed and more dramas were seen Phil said a few word about God's love and then I wrapped it up by praying together to this loving God we'd been talking about. So we all in one voice prayed. It was one of the most incredible prayers. I know that all haven stopped to hear our prayer. The atmosphere was so ready for a time of worship that we couldn't resist. Guess what we did enter into a time of worship with them all. We projected the words on the wall and in a few minutes we had three songs going. The freedom and joy that filled that room was incredible. They didn't have problems in expressing their joy freely as they didn't have any religion or tradition in their past. Word are way too pour to describe this miracle. All this time we had note pads on us so we could take names and addressed.

The meetings in the park went on every night. Everywhere we'd go, we'd pass out invitations to The Big Event on Saturday night at six. More friendships were made, more decisions for the Lord, and more people got involved in the preparation for Saturday night. We called our Action House team from Rupea to perform on Saturday too. After 11 hours of traveling instead of 2 hours, they got to Tārgoviste and we sent them straight on the stage.

Intent Faces at the Cultural Hall

At 6:15 on Saturday, we had about 350-400 in the cultural hall. The new friend and the new believers brought more friends to see them perform. As you can imagine the place was noisy. It was an incredible night. I was getting nervous because at the end I had to give an altar call. God gave me grace and the right words to say because half of them came to the front to pray and ask Jesus in to their hearts. We got to talk to so many and invited them to come again. The numbers of names and addresses we'd collected by now was becoming quite great.

Altar Call at the Conference Center

By now Catalin, Victor, Ionut and others were part of the team and they were going with us wherever we'd go. God's doing an incredible work in so many lives of the people we met. We always made sure that the new people were being introduced to the local team for follow up. I believe that from all those we came in contact with, about 30 will continue to come and be a part of the new church.

Praise God!!!
We see this outreach as a great success and a wonderful beginning.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
